Before You Buy
Or Email Us!Stones + Orbits sells a curated mix of vintage, estate, and contemporary jewelry. Some pieces are decades old; others are recent. Each listing specifies the era or period to the best of our knowledge.
Every item is photographed in natural light and described using available information: hallmarks, maker's marks, period indicators, testing, and professional assessment. We are not a gemological laboratory. Descriptions represent our informed opinion based on experience, research, and examination—not a guarantee of provenance, age, or material composition.
We note all significant condition issues we can identify: wear, repairs, replaced stones, damage, sizing history. Minor surface scratches and patina consistent with age and wear are expected in vintage pieces and are also noted.
Regarding gemstone treatments: Some stones may have undergone traditional lapidary practices (heating, oiling, or other standard enhancements common to the era of the piece). When we have documentation or specific knowledge about whether a stone has or hasn’t been treated, we disclose it. When treatment status is unknown, we say so.
We photograph all pieces in natural daylight. Colors may appear differently on your screen depending on your monitor settings and lighting—gold tones, gemstone hues, and metal finishes can all shift. We do our best to capture pieces accurately.
All measurements are approximate. Ring sizes are measured using standard US sizing tools and stated to the nearest quarter size. Weight is measured on a digital gram scale. Slight variations between stated and actual measurements may occur.
General Policy: All sales are final.
Exception: If an item arrives significantly not as described—meaning a material discrepancy that affects the nature or value of the piece (wrong metal type, undisclosed major damage, synthetic stone sold as natural)—contact us within 14 days of delivery. We will work with you to resolve the issue, which may include return for refund.
Not Covered: Normal vintage wear, minor variations in measurement or color from photographs, buyer's remorse, or items that have been worn, altered, resized, or cleaned after receipt.

We can't promise we've caught every microscopic inclusion, identified every previous repair, or dated every piece to the exact decade. We do our research thoroughly. We examine pieces carefully. We work with experts. We tell you what we know and what we don't know.
What we can promise: honesty about what we're selling, and a willingness to make it right if something is genuinely wrong.
