Mid-Century 14K Bicolor Star-Set 0.13ct Diamond Ring
Star settings were having a moment in the 1960s, and this one landed in Amsterdam. The motif was everywhere from 1957 to 1969—on album covers, architecture, even the Chrysler Building's elevator doors. Dutch jewelers were particularly obsessed, turning celestial navigation into wearable art. The white gold mount creates eight points around the diamond that catch light from impossible angles, a geometric frame that feels accidentally futuristic—like someone in 1965 was sketching what they thought 2065 would look like.
The bicolor decision wasn't about trends—yellow gold was standard, white gold held diamonds better, so they used both. At 0.13 carats, the diamond is modest by today's standards, perfect by any other measure. At 2.67 grams, it's featherweight—built for women who wore gloves to lunch and never took their rings off. The whole design has this Tron-before-Tron quality that makes it feel simultaneously vintage and like it hasn't happened yet. Someone wore this daily—you can tell by the softened edges where their fingers touched it most.
